A Service Plan covers the cost of scheduled services and the replacement of essential parts to help ensure the smooth day-to-day running of your car. The plan covers your car’s services for a certain period, or a specific number of kilometres travelled – whichever limit is reached first.
Simply put, it could save you thousands of rands by covering maintenance costs, so you don’t have to use your hard-earned cash. Plus, there’s the added benefit of knowing that your car will function optimally for longer because you've invested in its maintenance.
Firstly, your car will be booked in for regular maintenance check-ups during the period of the plan to minimise damage and fix any issues that may lead to bigger car problems down the line. Service Plans don’t cover mechanical issues or damage caused by negligence or an accident. It’s more a part of your financial planning that ensures your car is maintained properly and regularly in a way that can be more easily budgeted for. There’s typically a three-month waiting period in place after a plan is taken out. Plus, it can’t be used to fix existing damage or to fill in for services that were previously missed. And if your vehicle is older than 12 years or has more than 240,000km on the odometer, you might not qualify for a plan.
